🍯 Homemade Nut Bars with Honey – Healthy, Crunchy & Delicious
Looking for a healthy snack that's easy to take with you and tastes delicious? Then homemade nut bars with honey are perfect for you. No artificial additives, no refined sugars—just pure ingredients that give you energy and fill you up.
In this blog post, I share my favorite basic recipe for nut bars with honey, plus tips for varying them with seeds, dried fruit, or chocolate.
🌰 Why make your own nut bars?
Supermarket bars often contain hidden sugars, preservatives, and other unnecessary additives. If you make them yourself, you know exactly what's in them. Plus, you can customize them to your own taste and they're ready in just 10 minutes!
🍯 Recipe: Nut Bars with Honey
Ingredients (for ±10 bars):
-
200 g mixed nuts (e.g. almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews)
-
50 g seeds (e.g. sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds)
-
3 tablespoons honey
-
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoothness)
-
50 g oat flakes
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
-
Pinch of salt
Optionally add:
-
50 g dried fruit (such as raisins, apricots, cranberries)
-
Dark chocolate chips or pieces (for a treat)
👩🍳 Preparation method:
-
Preheat the oven to 175°C (top and bottom heat). Line a small ovenproof dish or baking pan with baking paper.
-
Coarsely chop the nuts. In a large bowl, combine the nuts, seeds, oats, salt, and cinnamon.
-
Gently heat the honey and coconut oil in a pan until liquid.
-
Pour the honey mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well, until everything sticks.
-
Press the mixture firmly into the baking tin, pressing down well with the back of a spoon.
-
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
-
Let it cool completely (important for firmness!), then cut into bars.
🔄 Variation tips
-
For more crunch, add puffed quinoa.
-
For extra protein: mix in some protein powder.
-
Prefer it raw? Skip the baking and press the mixture into the mold, then let it set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
🎒 Perfect as a snack
