Product Description

Country of origin

New Zealand

Product description

Thyme honey, derived from the thyme plant, is an aromatic and flavorful honey variety. This honey is known for its unique properties and is valued for its delicate taste and the health benefits attributed to thyme. The honey typically has a light amber color and can vary in taste from subtly sweet with herbaceous notes to a more intense herbal flavor, depending on the thyme varieties and the environment in which the bees collect nectar.

Flavor

Thyme honey has an intense flavor that varies from sweet to spicy, with undertones of thyme. It also has a wonderful aroma reminiscent of the natural environment in which thyme grows.

Texture

Thyme honey generally has a liquid consistency, making it easy to handle and use.

How to eat/use this honey

  • Bread topping: Spread thyme honey on fresh bread, toast, or crackers for a delicious sweet and herbal taste experience.
  • Addition to tea: Add a spoon of thyme honey to warm tea for a natural sweetener and the powerful properties of thyme.
  • Marinades and dressings: Use thyme honey as an ingredient in marinades and dressings for salads and dishes with a Mediterranean twist.

 Shelf life

Thyme honey generally has a good shelf life. Store the honey at room temperature in a dry, dark place, preferably in a well-sealed jar or bottle. Always check the expiration date and be aware of any crystallization. If the honey has crystallized, you can gently heat the container in warm water to liquefy it again.

Allergen information

Thyme honey typically does not contain bee pollen, but there is a chance of minimal traces. People with pollen allergies should be cautious. Furthermore, it is not recommended to give honey to babies younger than one year due to the risk of botulism, as their immune system is not yet fully developed.
