Meet the beekeeper

Discover our local New Zealand beekeeper, where our unique Manuka honey comes from. This honey is produced by bees that collect nectar from the flowering Manuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium), which is native to New Zealand.

The Manuka tree blooms in spring and attracts bees with its small, white flowers. This produces a honey with a rich, dark amber color and a distinct, earthy flavor with spicy undertones. Manuka honey is known for its unique antibacterial properties, making it a popular natural product.

Our hives are located in pristine natural areas where Manuka trees grow in abundance. The dedication of our beekeepers ensures that every drop of Manuka honey captures the pure essence of the New Zealand landscape. Savor the robust flavors and experience the power of authentic Manuka honey!

Product description

Manuka honey, a unique honey variety originating in New Zealand, distinguishes itself from other honeys thanks to the presence of a natural compound called methylglyoxal (MGO). The MGO value, which indicates the concentration of this unique compound, is listed on the product label. Manuka honey can vary in MGO content, ranging from 100+ to 1200+, depending on the MGO value listed on the label of the jar of manuka honey.

Certification

To maintain the highest quality standards, Manuka honey undergoes rigorous independent testing in ISO 17025-accredited laboratories. These tests meet the strict quality standards established by New Zealand authorities.

What makes it even more special is that every jar of Mānuka honey features a QR code on the cap. Simply scan this code with your phone for instant access to all relevant certificates and test data. This provides you with complete transparency about the quality and purity of our Mānuka honey, so you can enjoy our product with complete confidence.

Taste

Manuka honey is known for its sweet taste with a hint of spice and the occasional subtle bitterness, which contributes to its unique flavor profile.

Texture

Manuka honey typically has a thick, slow-flowing texture and can also be slightly grainy depending on storage conditions.

MGO value

An MGO value of 100+ in Mānuka honey indicates a moderate amount of methylglyoxal (MGO) in the honey. Methylglyoxal is a natural component that contributes to the specific properties of Mānuka honey. While this value is not exceptionally high, the honey still retains the distinctive flavor and other characteristics of Mānuka honey, albeit in a milder form compared to varieties with a higher MGO value.

How can you use or eat the honey?

In the morning: You can start your morning by taking a teaspoon of Manuka honey, preferably 30 minutes to 1 hour before breakfast on an empty stomach.

In the evening: You can also use a teaspoon of Manuka honey in the evening, before dinner or after a meal,

Shelf life

Honey is known for its long shelf life and generally stays fresh for a long time without spoiling. While there's no strict expiration date, the flavor can change subtly over time. To ensure the full flavor experience, we recommend consuming Manuka honey within two years of purchase.

Allergen information

Manuka honey should not be consumed by children under 1 year of age and is also not suitable for people with an allergy to bee products.
