Product Description

Country of origin

Italy

Product description

Forest honey is a special type of honey that originates from honeydew, a natural sweet substance collected by bees from trees and plants in wooded areas. Unlike nectar honey, which is extracted from flowers, forest honey originates from the forest itself. This results in a rich and distinct honey with a unique character.

Taste

Forest honey has a full, aromatic taste with notes reminiscent of caramel, herbs, and a hint of resin. The taste is less distinctly sweet than that of flower honey and often has a slightly savory or earthy undertone. Its color varies from dark amber to almost black, reflecting the depth and intensity of its flavor.

Texture

The honey has a liquid consistency, making it easy to use as a sweetener in various dishes and drinks.

How to use/eat the honey

Forest honey from Bulgaria can be used in various ways. Here are some suggestions:

  • As a sweetener: Add forest honey to hot drinks like tea, milk, or coffee for a natural sweetness.
  • In cooking: Forest honey can be used in baking recipes, sauces, and dressings to add a unique flavor and sweetness.
  • On bread and toast: Spread forest honey on fresh bread or toast for a delicious sweet treat.

Shelf life

Honey has a long shelf life and can actually be stored indefinitely. However, for the best quality and taste experience, it is generally recommended to use honey within 2 years of purchase.

Allergen information

Honey is not suitable for children under 1 year of age and for people with a known allergy to bees and bee products.
