Product Description

Country of origin

Greece

Product description

Paliurus honey is harvested by bees that collect nectar from the flowers of the Paliurus shrub (Paliurus spina-christi), a plant native to the sunny, mountainous regions of Greece. This honey is known for its unique flavor profile and is prized for its rarity and artisanal production. The wild, unspoiled environment in which the Paliurus shrub grows contributes to the rich and complex aromas of this honey.

Taste

Paliurus honey has a mild, sweet flavor with a slight spiciness and earthy undertones. Its flavor is subtly complex, with notes of caramel and a hint of nuttiness, making it a special experience for lovers of refined honeys.

Texture

This honey has a medium to thick consistency and a warm amber hue. Its rich texture makes it ideal for spreading or letting it melt slowly on the tongue for a full flavor experience.

How can I eat/use the honey?

Paliurus honey is delicious eaten pure – take a teaspoon straight from the jar to savor its full, natural flavor. Its rich flavor and thicker texture also make it an excellent topping for fresh bread, toast, or warm croissants.

Use it as a natural sweetener in tea or drizzled over Greek yogurt with walnuts for a traditional Mediterranean breakfast. Paliurus honey also pairs well with cheeses, especially soft and creamy ones, and is a surprising addition to salad dressings or marinades for meat and poultry.

Allergen information

Paliurus honey is generally safe to consume, but like other types of honey, it is not suitable for children under 1 year of age. People with allergies to bee products are advised to exercise caution and, if in doubt, consult a doctor.

Shelf life

Honey has a long shelf life due to its natural preservative properties. While it doesn't spoil, the flavor may change slightly over time. For best quality and flavor, we recommend using Paliurus honey within two years of purchase. Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
