Meet the beekeeper

Meet our local beekeeper from Belgium, where our Belgian honey comes from. With no less than 850 beehives, spread across various locations, he ensures a diverse range of honey types. Depending on where the bees collect their nectar, different types of honey are produced. Hawthorn honey is made by bees whose beehives are located in an area with many hawthorn hedges.

Product description

Bees that extract nectar from the blossoms of hawthorn plants in Belgium are responsible for the creation of hawthorn honey. These bees are primarily found in environments where hawthorn plants flourish. The nectar they collect is transformed by the bees into honey, which has a unique taste that reflects the essence of hawthorn blossoms.

Taste

Hawthorn honey is deliciously sweet and slightly fruity. Some people also taste a hint of almond after eating it.

Texture

Hawthorn honey in liquid form is characterized by a soft and smooth texture. It is not thick or sticky, but rather light in nature. This makes it extremely easy to combine with other ingredients, whether in a recipe or in your tea.

How to eat/use this honey?

Hawthorn honey is a delightful delicacy with various enjoyable uses. Here are some recommendations:

Raw: The simplest and perhaps most important way to enjoy hawthorn honey is to taste it raw. Simply spoon a little and savor the rich, luscious tones.

As an ingredient: Hawthorn honey can also be added to various culinary creations, such as bread, fruit, and yogurt, to provide a subtle sweet touch.

In tea: Add a dash of hawthorn honey to your tea to naturally achieve a hint of sweetness.

Please note! If you plan to add honey to your tea, make sure the temperature of the tea does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Above this temperature, the enzymes in the honey may lose their effectiveness.

Although hawthorn honey can be consumed in various ways, it is essential to remember that the unique properties of the honey are best preserved when consumed raw.

Shelf life

Although honey is known for its long shelf life, its taste may change slightly over time. For the best taste experience, we recommend consuming the honey within two years of purchase.

Allergen information

It is not recommended to give Honingwinkel's hawthorn honey to children younger than 1 year and individuals who have an allergy to bee products.
