Product description
Manuka honey is a special type of honey that comes from New Zealand and is distinguished from other honeys by the presence of " methylglyoxal" (MGO). The MGO content of a jar of manuka honey can be found on the product label. Manuka honey can have an MGO content of MGO 100+ , but also of MGO 1200+.
Certification
To ensure the quality of Manuka honey, it is independently tested by ISO 17025-accredited laboratories. These tests meet the strict standards established by New Zealand authorities.
What's special is that every jar of Manuka honey has a QR code on the cap. By scanning this code with your phone, you gain access to all relevant certificates and test data.
Taste
Manuka honey usually has a sweet taste with a hint of spiciness and can sometimes have a slightly bitter taste.
Texture
Manuka honey typically has a thick texture that flows slowly from a spoon. It can also have a slight graininess, depending on the variety and storage conditions.
MGO value
An MGO level of 100+ for Mānuka honey indicates that the honey contains a moderate concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO). Methylglyoxal is a natural substance that contributes to the unique characteristics of Mānuka honey. While this level is not very high, this honey still retains the characteristic flavor and other properties of Mānuka honey, albeit in a milder form compared to honey with higher MGO levels.
How can you use or eat the honey?
In the morning: You can take one teaspoon of manuka honey 30 minutes to 1 hour before breakfast on an empty stomach.
In the evening: If desired, you can also take a teaspoon of manuka honey in the evening. You can do this before or after dinner.
Shelf life
Honey naturally has a long shelf life and doesn't spoil quickly. While there's no specific expiration date, the flavor may fade slightly over time. It's recommended to consume manuka honey within two years of purchase to enjoy its optimal flavor.
Allergen information
Manuka honey is not suitable for children under 1 year of age or for people with allergies to bee products. It's important to consider this allergen information to avoid potential health problems.

Why does honey turn sugary? And is that bad?
"My honey has solidified, is it still good?"
The short answer: yes, absolutely!
Crystallized (granulated) honey is actually a sign of real, natural honey. In this article, we explain why honey crystallizes, what it says about the quality, and how to deal with it.
