Product Description

Forest honey is a unique type of honey that does not come from flower nectar, but from a sweet substance called honeydew, which is made by bees that buzz from flower to flower and collect honeydew from trees such as oaks, beeches, and linden trees.

Taste

Forest honey has a unique, rich and powerful taste that distinguishes it from other types of honey. It has a complex flavour profile with an earthy, woody sweetness, often accompanied by a slight bitterness. The taste can vary depending on the types of trees from which the honeydew was collected. In general, the taste of forest honey is often described as more robust and less sweet than that of floral honey.

Texture

Forest honey has a wonderfully creamy texture that you can feel when you taste it. It is darker than most honey varieties, ranging from deep amber to almost black, and has a thick, syrupy consistency. This honey is not only a treat for your taste buds but also a delight for your senses, with its rich colour and luxurious texture.

How to eat/use the honey?

Forest honey from Italy can be used in various ways:

  1. Raw: Try the forest honey straight from the jar to experience its full, rich flavour and texture.
  2. As a spread: Spread forest honey on toast, pancakes, waffles, or crackers. Also, combine it with fresh fruit for a delicious treat.
  3. In sauces and dressings: Add forest honey to salad dressings, marinades, and sauces for a sweet touch. Note that high temperatures can break down the natural enzymes in honey. Therefore, it is better to add the forest honey only after the sauce or dressing has cooled.

Shelf life

Honey is a food product with a long shelf life. Although honey does not have a fixed expiration date, its taste can change after some time. We therefore advise you to consume the honey within two years for the best taste experience.

Allergen information

Honey is not recommended for children under 1 year of age and is also not suitable for people with an allergy to bee products.
