Hobby beekeeper Ahmet grew into a thriving honey business
From a shed in a backyard in Kanaleneiland, beekeeper Ahmet Taskan (54) runs a successful family business with a turnover of 24,000 euros per month.

His grandfather was so incredibly proud. It was on his land, decades ago in Turkey, that a then-young Taskan first encountered honey.
"My grandfather had six beehives. I still remember him smoking by the hive window. I watched him extract the honey from the combs. And now I run my own honey shop." From his Kanaleneiland neighborhood in Utrecht, Ahmet Taskan runs a honey business that earns him and his family €24,000 a month.

Pure... and bulk
I started selling pure honey, but it was a process of trial and error. Initially, I only generated €450 in revenue per month. People often found it too expensive.
What changed his company? 'When I decided to advertise on Google five years ago. My sons (then only 13 and 14 years old, oh, 90 Google ads).
They learned all about it, thanks to free support from the Google Digital Workshop. It's a course for startups and businesses, and it has a positive impact on advertising, sales, and marketing.
Beehives
Where Taskan's business initially involved a large number of beehives, this has now changed considerably.
Taskan's sons were indeed able to help with the first 25 cabinets. His production lines and shipments are now running like clockwork.
Experimenting
My wife still sells the products in the shop, and we run this together as a family business. We have customers from all over Europe. Germans are crazy about honey and use it not only in tea, but also in recipes.
